Common questions

The tide times look wrong for my spot

It is almost always the station. Tap the station name on the tide card and pick a different one. Stations only a few miles apart can run hours apart, because an ocean station leads a river station. Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach are nine miles apart and differ by about two and a half hours. Your choice is remembered for that place.

The times do not match another app or my almanac

Tap the question mark on the Today screen. It shows exactly how the rating and the windows were worked out, including the moon events they are centred on. Major windows run two hours centred on the Moon overhead or underfoot; minor windows run one hour centred on moonrise and moonset. If a number still looks wrong, write in with your place and date and we will check it.

One expected difference: rise and set times can sit a minute or two from a published almanac because the app includes the moon's semi-diameter in the horizon, which not every source does.

Times are showing in the wrong time zone

They should not. Times always read in the time zone of the place you are looking at, not the one your phone is in, so a saved spot checked from home still reads correctly. If you see otherwise, that is a bug worth reporting.

Does it work with no signal?

Yes. Feeding windows, sun and moon times, and tide predictions for 764 US stations are computed on the device from data carried inside the app. Only the weather card needs a connection, and you can switch it off in Settings.

The weather card is not showing

It needs a connection, and it is the only part that does. If you are offline it is hidden on purpose rather than showing an error. It can also be turned off entirely in Settings.

What happens when the free days run out?

Today keeps working forever: today's windows, the day rating, sun and moon times and today's tides. The purchase covers planning ahead, which is any other date, the month calendar, best days, the catch log, marked spots and window alerts.

I paid, but a new device is asking again

Settings → Restore Purchases, signed in with the same Apple Account you bought it with. The unlock is also Family Sharing enabled, so household members do not need to buy it twice.

My catch log or spots are missing on my other device

They sync through your own private iCloud database. Check that both devices are signed in to the same Apple Account and that iCloud Drive is on. Sync runs in the background, so give it a moment on a network.

Window alerts are not arriving

Check that you allowed notifications when the app asked, in iOS Settings → Solunar → Notifications. Alerts are one of the features covered by the purchase, so they stop being scheduled once the free days are spent.

How do I get my catch log out?

The log exports to CSV and PDF from the log screen.

Where are the hunting features?

Answer "Both" to the question on the second onboarding screen, or turn on Settings → Hunting later. That adds legal shooting light to the Today screen, with four rule sets to match your state, and adds the eight game species to the reference.

Requesting a feature

Write in. Requests from people who actually fish and hunt are how the list gets decided.

Refunds

Purchases are handled by Apple, so refunds go through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. If something about the app caused it, tell us as well so it gets fixed.

Privacy

The app has no server and no account, and collects nothing about you. The full privacy policy covers the one request that leaves your device.
